I want to be president
ABUJA—FORMER Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, revealed, yesterday, that he would contest the 2011 presidential election to give Nigeria a much needed change from the old order of corruption, insecurity and economic backwardness.
Ribadu who was addressing newsmen in Abuja on his determination to run for the presidential elections said that groups of like minds who wanted a change in the nation were working with him to actualize the dream of a prosperous country that would be the pride of all Nigerians.
The anti-graft czar, however, did not mention the party platform he would use, but assured that he would make it public within a short time, especially given the limited time between now and the election.
He said: “I am still consulting but it is going to be very soon that we are going to make a decision on that because there is no time. Like I said, the responsibility of all of us coming together must be exhausted to see that we have a chance in such a way that we can move in our country a platform that is going to be national.”
Ribadu, however, ruled out the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as a platform, as according to him he would reveal many things to Nigerians about PDP.
He said: “There will be a lot of time to talk and so much to talk about. There is so much to talk about PDP, to educate Nigerians about PDP.”
The former EFCC boss said he had a dream of a new Nigeria where infrastructure facilities are efficient and Nigerians, irrespective of ethnic background or faith would be secured and prosper, adding: “I have a dream of a new Nigeria and I have a dream to change Nigeria. I want to see if there is possibility of opening a new chapter for the country and those who are in charge somehow certainly need to give chance for the country to move forward.
“My team is going to be the best that Nigeria offers. Whether you are old or new, it has to be the best of Nigerians and I want to be part of that team that will certainly save our country and give it a new lease of life. I won’t want to categorise it as a generational thing but certainly, you know where I am now. If you want to judge by that I want to see the possibility of capturing the vision of the majority of Nigerians who are disenchanted and I certainly belong to that group.”
Asked if his decision to contest the election against serving President, Goodluck Jonathan; former Heads of State, Generals Muhammadu Buhari and Ibrahim Babangida as well as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, did not amount to a David and Goliath battle, he simply said: “David enh”.
On whether he was not scared that corrupt people would fight to stop him, Ribadu said: “I have always been fighting in my life. When I was in the police force, I fought armed robbers physically with guns I survived. I fought gangsters, I fought 419 fraudsters; I fought big-time corrupt people I have survived, I am still standing Nuhu Ribadu, I believe I will also survive this.”
Ribadu said he paraded the best qualifications among the contestants and was convinced that he had what it would require to give Nigeria a new lease of life, going by his antecedents, experience and exposure both in Nigeria and at the international level.
He noted: “I have experience in public service. I have put 25 years of my life into the service of the Federal Government of Nigeria in the executive capacity. After that of course I served outside of Nigeria. I worked and acquired international experience. I had the opportunity to set up an agency.
I ran it for five years, I was in the economic team (of the Obasanjo government); I was a federal prosecutor and remain there longer than any other person. I was a police officer, a community worker. Tell me which president of this country who had that experience before coming into office?”
Ribadu said he would make security, power and education his priority, explaining that they hold the key that would unlock the potentials of the Nigerian economy, adding:
“I want to re-make Nigeria. It will be a fresh chance for us to re-make ourselves. I want to make a nation out of our country. Immediately I will insist that we have security. No time to waste on that. I want to see that immediately we solve our power problem.

The percentage of funds being closed is really miniscule considering that just 1071 funds were wound-up in the 12 months to June – and there are 432,675 funds in existence, according to APRA’s latest quarterly superannuation report.
Smart Investing likes to keep a watch on fund closures because the possibility of closing a fund – perhaps after the most active member dies or when a fund is no longer financially feasible – is a crucial consideration for trustees. Read Smart Investing on June 30 regarding this issue.
Of course, steps can be taken – perhaps with the guidance of a financial planner – to try to resuscitate an underperforming SMSF. But understandably, closure may be the best course in some circumstances.
Interestingly, the ATO this month released an updated version of its publication Winding-up a self-managed super fund. It makes valuable reading for trustees who are considering closing their funds.
Even if your fund is using a professional adviser or specialist SMSF administration firm to manage its closure, this straightforward publication should provide trustees with a useful overview of things they should be thinking about.

Super funds that had once directed their line-up of investments and services at a largely younger workforce are having to revamp their thinking for a somewhat older membership – depending upon the makeup of a particular fund’s membership.
While some large funds clearly have an ageing membership others have a membership that is spread widely across the age spectrum.
The cover story in the September issue of Superfunds magazine – headed Future of the Workplace – provides a fascinating insight into what super funds should be considering in regard to their older members.
Superfunds is published by the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA).
Points put forward by specialists interviewed for the feature by veteran journalist Michael Laurence include the need for funds to check whether asset allocations for their default portfolios are appropriate for older members with increasing life-spans and often insufficient super savings.
Some of the other points discussed in the article are the need for funds, according to those quoted, to provide suitable education for members regarding their life/work mix and about easing their way into retirement – perhaps using a transition-to-retirement pension.
Dr David Knox, senior partner for retirement, risk and finance with the Mercer group, is quoted about the role super funds should have in the development of longevity investment products as their members age – leaving the workforce at older ages and living until greater ages.
And Richard Weatherhead, a director and head of insurance for Rice Warner Actuaries, speaks of the need for funds to ensure that their default insurance is suitable for older workers who are tending to take on debts later in their working lives.
The inadequacy of super savings of many older members – particularly considering they didn’t have the benefit of Superannuation Guarantee contributions for much of their working lives – is a reality that, of course, faces funds and their members.
And this is likely to be increasingly at the forefront of super fund thinking as more members decide to stay with the same fund in both the accumulation and retirement phases.

After years of off-and-on conversation, United Airlines (UAUA:NASDAQ) is getting into bed with Continental Airlines (CAL:NYSE) in a merger deal valued at $3.7 billion. The merged entity, keeping the United name, will be the largest airline in the world. It will have close to $30 billion in combined revenue, 700 aircraft, and service to 370 destinations in 59 countries, according to BusinessWeek. Early estimates predict savings to reach $1 billion to $1.2 billion annually.
Is a Merger Better Than Bankruptcy?

The better-run airline, Continental, has declared bankruptcy twice, had to borrow money from the U.S. government, and has lost over $1 billion since Sept. 11.
United has had an equally unimpressive past, with its own extended bankruptcy, ongoing (contract) tensions with labor, elimination of its huge pension plan, and many failed strategies (do you remember Ted?) and merger attempts.

I have always thought that life should be meaningful. Not necessarily every moment of every day. I mean, how meaningful is it doing laundry? Nor should life always be serious. We all need extremely large doses of just having a good time! But life has to be more than pleasure-seeking, partly because the enjoyment doesn't last. It's here for a moment, then gone. Author Ravi Zacharias said it well: "If there is no larger meaning to life...then life is without a driving force, without overall substance or explanation."
For several years I studied the philosophies of Dostoyevsky, Sartre, Nietzsche, Socrates and many others -- looking for an overriding, motivating purpose to my life. Every few weeks I would "try out" a new philosophy to see if it could work. But I found these philosophies disappointing when applied to actual life situations. My search continued.
An international news correspondent for TIME Magazine, Dr. David Aikman, shed some light on this subject. He has a couple of post-graduate degrees, is an expert in Russian and Chinese history and communist affairs, has worked in more than 30 countries, is fluent in six languages, and is a serious thinker about life issues. He said, "Each of us has a purpose, a reason for being here, that no one else can tell you, but you can find out from God." Dr. Aikman recommended beginning a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Dr. Aikman gave this account, "When I heard the words of Jesus [in the Bible], it seemed to me he was speaking to my heart, and he was saying, 'I am the way to life. If you follow me and do what I say, your life will change.'" He then talked about taking the first step to starting a relationship with Jesus Christ, by asking him to enter his life. Dr. Aikman concluded, "I can promise you...anybody that takes that first step toward Jesus Christ will have a very exciting life."
Like Dr. Aikman, I came from an atheistic background. And like him, I found that Jesus' statements about himself were quite unique. Jesus didn't point people to his philosophy on life, he pointed people to himself. Jesus said he could forgive our sins, give us inner peace in the midst of tough circumstances, and guide us to a life of freedom.
I determined that if there really was a God, I wanted to know him. But I was still skeptical. I debated and challenged the Christians I knew. I wanted proof that Jesus was God. One day I took an honest look at the evidence for God's existence and Jesus' deity, and I was shocked to find so many logical, historical facts. I then knew I had a decision to make. Was I going to ask him to enter my life and influence it in whatever way he wanted, or was I going to close the chapter on this part of my life and refuse to consider the possibility of "God" ever again?
After reviewing the concrete, intellectual reasons to believe in Jesus, I asked Jesus if he would come into my life. And that very day my search for the meaning of life was completely resolved.
It amazed me that I could have a relationship with God. I talked to him and, through changes in circumstances, he indicated that he heard me. He led me in career paths that are far more expansive and exciting than I ever dreamed. And I asked him questions and he guided me to appropriate, helpful answers in the Bible.
These things didn't occur just on one obscure, stormy day. It was a genuine two-way relationship with God that I was enjoying on a consistent basis, and still do. It wasn't because I became a saint, but because Jesus Christ will enter anyone's life who truly wants to know him and follow him.
There is a deep joy that comes in following God. Unlike anything or anyone else, knowing Jesus Christ has brought real purpose to my life.
Real life is a life filled with fulfillment, acceptance and purpose. We find it in a relationship with Jesus Christ. No one in human history has made the claims Jesus made and given such great proofs to back them up. He claimed to be God, to be able to forgive sins, and to be the only way through which we can know God the Father. Jesus backed up those claims through his resurrection from the dead. He is, truly, the most unique person who ever lived...much more than a great teacher.
The Bible says that Jesus was God who became man -- "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us."3 He was "the exact representation of his [God's] being."4 In short, Jesus Christ revealed exactly what God is like. So how do we begin a relationship with him?
We don't begin a relationship with God by trying to be a better person. Trying harder to win God's approval is not the way he wants us to live. Have you ever been in a relationship with someone in which you had to try to win that person's approval? It's no fun.
God has such a genuine love for us that he himself provided the way for us to get close to him...but there is a problem. Currently, what stands in the way of us connecting with God is our sin (our self-centeredness shown by our anger, our hurtful words, our impatience, our selfishness, greed, etc.). If you've ever wondered why your prayers seem to go nowhere, that is why. Our sin has separated us from God, who is holy.
So what has God done so we can have a close relationship with him? Jesus Christ ("God in the flesh") took all of our sin on his shoulders while he willingly died on a cross. He did this so we could be completely forgiven, completely acceptable to him.
Our problem is illustrated by the college student who is charged with a crime. The judge sentences her to 30 days in jail or a $1,000 fine. The student can afford neither the time nor the money. The judge, knowing this, takes off his robes, walks to the front of the bench, and with his own checkbook pays the fine. Why? Because, as a just judge, he cannot overlook the offense. But, because he is the student's father, he chooses to pay the penalty on her behalf.
This is exactly what Jesus did for each of us on the cross. He made the great sacrifice of being beaten, humiliated, whipped and crucified on our behalf. He now asks us to respond to his sacrifice by inviting him into our lives.
If this is now the desire of your heart, the following is a suggested prayer (but the words aren't as important as the attitude of your heart):
Dear God, I confess that I have sinned against you. Thank you for taking all of my sin upon yourself on the cross. I want to receive your forgiveness. I want to enter into a relationship with you. I ask you to come into my life as my Savior and Lord. Please give me the real life that comes only from you.

How we can be in real life
He wants us to know him and to experience his love, joy and peace. When we ask him into our lives, we receive his forgiveness, and we begin a relationship with him that's meant to last forever. Jesus said, "I stand at the door (of your heart) and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into him (or her)."5If this is now the desire of your heart, the following is a suggested prayer (but the words aren't as important as the attitude of your heart):

Why is life so hard?
* Some people have it harder than others. Consider this story a professor once told me when I lost my brother to suicide years ago:
Picture 3 boats in the middle of the ocean traveling at a slow and steady speed. Each boat has a cable attached to a bubble with a man inside. The man is lowered into the ocean. Each man is at a different depth in the sea. The first man is in shallow water. He sees sunlight and some of the shallow swimming creatures of the ocean. He has life pretty easy.
The second man is somewhere in the middle of the ocean. His bubble hits the large underwater mountains as the boat passes them. He sees neither light nor life in the ocean. He has a hard life.
The 3rd man is at the very bottom of the ocean. He sees all of the mysteries of the sea, all of the creatures people wish they could see, and beautiful ocean floor full of life. He also hits the little bumps and large mountains along the way. His life is tough, but he also gets to experience the most joy of all 3 men.
Which man would you rather be? Some would say they like the guy in shallow water where life is easy and there are no problems. Most people (deep down) would rather be the guy at the bottom of the ocean who gets to experience the most pleasure, but is faced the the most hurt at the same time. We cannot know true joy without experiencing true sadness.
* "This too shall pass" is something you may find true in time.
* Lfe is hard, kids are being abused, raped, and murdered. But once on the road to recovery, you will get through it. I was once one of those kids. But the scars of abuse are still all over me. But I'm a changed teenager and I am a cooler guy now. So, I speak out to everyone who has been abused and is still being abused. Just endure it, be brave and you will come out strong, trust me.
* Life won't be easier unless we as humans change our drive(drive being money). Everyone would get along if there was no money, if we changed what we thought of our money. I've thought of suicide, that's how bad life is, but there is something in all of that says change is needed, hopefully there will be a person in the near future that will make that change(I'm 14, I want to be that person. I know Lot's of famous stars, some are my friends, I don't have big money). Life can give you so many things, but it's the things life doesn't give you that makes you. I want to be something great, but our modern society doesn't work if everyone can meet at least their needs.

0 Buddha

The title Buddha means Enlightened One or Awakened One.
In Bhuddism, the Buddha refers to Siddhattha Gautama.
Buddha was born around 565 B.C. in Lumbini in modern day Nepal. His name ‘Siddhattha Gautama,’ means ‘descendant of Gotama whose aims are achieved/who is efficacious in achieving aims’, he later became the Buddha (literally Enlightened One or Awakened One). He is also commonly known as ‘Shakyamuni’ or ‘Sakyamuni’ (lit. “The sage of the Shakya clan”) and as the Tathagata (lit. “thus come” or “thus gone”). Gautama was a contemporary of Mahavira.
Few of the details of the Buddha’s life can be independently verified, and it is difficult to determine what is history and what is myth.
According to most Buddhist traditions, Siddhattha Gautama, the future Buddha lived many lives before coming to our present world era. In his many existences during the long, long period of time and in the one hundred thousand worlds, the future Buddha had fulfilled the Ten Paramitas, and, in order to save this world, he was to be born in our era and to become a fully enlightened Buddha.
Siddhartha Gautama was born in Lumbini (a town situated in modern Nepal, near the Indian border) under the full moon of May to the clan of the Shakyas, a warrior tribe. The day of his birth is widely celebrated in Buddhist countries as Vesak. Gautama’s father was the king of Kapilavastu in Magadha, and Gautama was born a prince, destined to a life of luxury.
Before Siddartha Gautama’s birth, his mother dreamed
of a white elephant presenting her with a lotus flower.
During the birth celebrations, a seer announced that this baby would either become a great king or a great holy man.
Since King Suddhodana had long awaited a child, he and everyone else in the palace rejoiced at the birth of a son. The King immediately called a famous wise sage, Asita. Asita told the king, “If he remains at home, the child will become the Wheel-rolling King. If he leaves home, he will become the great teacher, the Buddha.”
His father, wishing for Gautama to be a great king, shielded his son from religious teachings or knowledge of human suffering.
His mother Maya, died, on the seventh day after her delivery and Maya’s sister, Mahapajapati became the step mother of Siddhattha. The prince grew up in an environment of care and love, respect and joy. However, he was sometimes unhappy.
At a palace festival, the young prince sat down under a tree and was soon lost in meditation. It is said that though the shadows of all the trees had lengthened, the shadow of the tree under which he sat had not moved.
Buddha studied science and technology, art and philosophy, religious knowledge under the tuition of famous scholars, riding, archery, and fencing. He excelled at everything. His expected much from his son and made him crown prince and heir apparent.
But this did not please the young man, who steadily grew to be thoughtful and depressed.
To cheer him up, his worried father and foster mother built three palaces, one for cold weather, one for hot weather, and one for the rainy season. They appointed many beautiful court ladies to wait on him and arranged banquets with dancing and music.
Hoping to give his son pleasure, King Suddhodana arranged four trips outside the city of Kapilavastu, one through each of its four gates.
At the age of thirteen, Gautama was escorted by his attendant Channa on four subsequent visits outside of the palace.
There, he came across the “four sights”: an old crippled man, a diseased man, a decaying corpse, and finally an ascetic. Gautama realized then the harsh truth of life – that death, disease, age, and pain were inescapable, that the poor outnumbered the wealthy, and that even the pleasures of the rich eventually came to nothing.
“The four sights/gates” represent the state of mind of the prince with respect to the suffering of aging, illness and death. Superficial prosperity in economy and relative stability in political environment cannot relieve people from worry, fear, anxiety and suffering and cannot lead them to ultimate happiness.
As the boy reached the age of 16, his father arranged a marriage to a cousin of the same age, Yashodhara, and she gave birth to a son, Rahula. Although his father ensured that Gautama was provided with everything he could want or need, Gautama was constantly troubled and internally dissatisfied.
The future Buddha bid farewell to his wife, Princess Yasodhara and new son, Rahula, before renouncing the householder’s life to seek an end to suffering. He would devote himself to search for the ultimate truth.
Though his love to his family may have hindered him, the birth of his son, Rahula, provided a favorable occasion for his departure since with the birth of his son, Siddattha had fulfilled his karma to his father and his wife according to the Indian tradition.
Departing from the palace and the wearing rags, the prince chose to become a Samana.
The young ascetic practiced extreme self-mortification for six years in the hopes of discovering Truth. It is said he ate little more than a single sesame seed or grain of rice each day. After these six years he determined to continue his quest in a new manner. He practiced a Middle Way between self-mortification and self- indulgence.
During that time, Siddhatha went to Rajagaha, the capital of Magadha, which was the centre of culture with many orthodox and unorthodox monks.
By that time, the two major disciplines for the sake of enlightenment were meditation and ascetic austeritics.
Siddhattha studyied meditation under two famous teachers, Alara-Kalama and Uddaka-Ramaputta.
The state attained by Alara-Kalama was that of a much higher formless world where physical matter no longer exists.
Uddaka-Ramaputta reached an even higher state at which neither thought nor non-thought existed.
Siddhatha did not find it difficult to attain either state.
Attaining these states of mind did not ease his mental anxieties, because once he stopped meditation, he returned to the mental state of depression.
He knew that the true liberation from the attachment of ignorance and suffering could be attained only by reaching a state of absolute tranquility.
He left his teachers to continue his search for the ultimate truth.
He next practised asceticism, which was very common among Samanas. They believed that the human suffering was caused by the attachment to the physical body and the mental spirit. Suffering can only be freed by detaching the spirit imposed by the body. Therefore, they tormented themselves for the purpose of weakening the power of the physical body over the mental spirit, until the body was destructed.
Siddhattha passed through the country of Magadha to the town of Uruvela, where he settled in a grove of trees to find enlightenment.
Practising austerities for six years, he was extremely tough on himself and put himself through many difficult tests after which was became so weak his body was nothing more than skin and bones.
Soon thereafter, a young woman offered the future Buddha a bowl of rice and milk.
He accepted it, restored his strength, and began his practice anew.
He sat under the shade of a pippala tree (now called a Bodhi tree) determined not to rise until fully enlightened. He accepted a bowl of milk from a maid Sugata. He ate and gradually recovered his strength. Soon he realized the 4 Noble Truths and the secret to true peace and happiness.
These Are My Four Nobel Truths
1. The Noble Truth of Suffering: There is Suffering – Rebirth, old age, disease, death, sorrow, lamentation, pain, grief and despair, association with objects we dislike, separation from objects we love, not to obtain what one desires cause suffering. There are also many happy hours and pleasure in man’s life-time, but according to the law of nature, they are impermanent and these last only for a short time and vanish into nothing. Only sorrow, lamentation, pain, grief and despair are left by them behind.
2. The Noble Truth of The Arising of Suffering: Suffering has an origin – The Threefold Craving leads every being from birth to birth and is accompanied by joy and lust, seeking its gratification here and there, namely: Sensual Craving, Craving for Existence and Craving for Wealth and Power. There are also a sixfold craving, namely the eye craves for forms, the ear craves for sounds, the nose craves for odours, the tongue craves for taste, the body craves for objects, and the mind craves for noun, dreams or illusions. These Cravings and ignorance of the law of nature are the condition of origin of individual suffering.
3. The Noble Truth of the Cessation of Suffering: Suffering Can Cease – The condition of cessation of suffering is the complete fading away and extinction of this three fold craving, forsaking it and giving it up, the liberation and detachment from it. The condition of mind of a person who has been giving up his threefold cravings or this sixfold craving together with ignorance can realize Nirvana (or the Extinction of the Cravings).
4. The Noble Truth of The Path leading to the Cessation of Suffering: There is a Path our of Suffering – It is the ‘Noble Eightfold Path’ (or the ‘Middle Path’ because it avoids the two extremes of sensual pleasure and self-mortification), that leads to the Cessation of Suffering.
He discovered the reality of universe, and found the path to free humanity from the suffering of birth and death thus attaining eternal happiness.
As a Buddha, an awakened one, he returned to teach his five fellow practitioners the Noble Truth of Unsatisfactoriness, the Noble truth of the Cause (Craving), the Noble Truth of Cessation, and the Noble 8-fold Path leading to the cessation of all suffering. The wheel of Dharma had been set in motion.
The Buddha gained many followers. On one occasion 1,250 monks gathered spontaneously to hear his teaching. (This day is commemorated as a holiday in Buddhist countries.)
This engraving depicts the Buddha’s first sermon, which according to the Dhammacakka Pavattana Sutta took place in the Deer Park at Sarnath in northern India.
After 45 years of teaching the Dharma, the Buddha passed into Parinirvana. In his last sermon, he encouraged his disciples to diligently seek the truth and not to hold on to that which is impermanent.

Find Out Who Made The November Nine
It took 8 days but the November Nine has finally been decided. Jason Sentl, Cuong Nguyen, Jonathan Duhamel, John Dolan, Michael Mizrachi, Filippo Candio, Joseph Cheong, Matthew Jarvis and John Racener are the nine men who made it to the final table of this year’s World Series of Poker (WSOP). The final poker match will take place on November 6th. Seat positions have been drawn. We’ll take a look at who was sitting where below.
Seat #1 John Sentl: Sentl is from St. Lous, MN. This young poker professional has the lowest chip count at 7.6 million. This is his very first WSOP cash.
Seat #2 Joseph Cheong: Cheong is from Bonita Springs, Florida. He is a 24 years old and has the third most chips at the table. A successful pro, he has already won a WSOP circuit gold ring.
Seat #3 John Dolan: Dolan has already earned an impressive 6 WSOP cashes, 3 of those coming this year. He currently has the 2nd most chips with 46.25 million.
Seat #4 Jonathan Duhamel: Duhamel is only 22 years old. This year’s final will be his 3rd WSOP cash. He is currently the chip count leader with 65.9 million chips.
Seat #5 Michael Mizrachi: The most decorated player of the bunch, Mizrachi has one a WSOP bracelet. The Miami, Florida resident is in 7th place with 14.4 million chips.
Seat #6 Matthew Jarvis: When not playing poker, Jarvis is also a student. Hailing from Surrey, British Columbia, this year’s WSOP will be the first time that he has cashed at a World Series of Poker event. His chip count is the fifth largest at 16.7 million chips.
Seat #7 John Racener: Racener is currently in fourth place with 19 million chips. He is a noted WSOP Circuit player. The 24 year old poker professional is from Port Richey, Florida.
Seat #8 Fillippo Candio: The 26 year old is from Cagliari, Sardinia Italy. Candio is currently in 6th place. He is the first person of Italian descent to make it to the final table at a WSOP Main Event.

Make "Fall Cleaning" the Pantry Part of Your Back to School Routine
Whether yours is a single-parent family or both parents work, chances are good that your older kids will spend some time alone after school during this school year. Even kids with stay-at-home moms aren't supervised 100% of the time. What your kids eat when you're not looking might surprise you. You've heard of spring cleaning, but have you ever considered fall cleaning? I'm talking about cleaning out your pantry, getting rid of unhealthy snacks.
Your kids won't have to fight the temptation when they're home alone if you fight temptation at the grocery store. Make it easy on your kids to eat healthy by only providing healthy options at home. They can have sweets and salty snacks on occasion, but only on occasion. If you keep these foods in your pantry, your kids are likely to eat them as often as they can get away with it.
Not only that, they're likely to combine these unhealthy snacks in new, creative, and humorously disgusting ways. Remember when you were a kid? What horrible food combinations did you come up with? Some of the combinations I've heard over the years include sugary cereal with chocolate malted milk balls and marshmallows, peanut butter and chocolate chips on white bread, marshmallows melted in the microwave.
Healthy after-school snacks for kids
Get rid of potato chips
Replace them with whole wheat crackers with low fat cheese. Read the labels of the crackers at the store. Buy two or three that seem relatively healthy. Let your kids decide which to keep in the pantry. This way, you get their buy-in.
Get rid of toaster pastries with fruit filling
Replace them with multigrain bread with raspberry jam. You get extra points for choosing sugar-free jam!
Get rid of pizza rolls
Replace them with English muffins, pizza sauce, and low fat mozzarella. Try to find a pizza sauce made with fresh ingredients, no preservatives. Your kids can spread the sauce on half of a muffin, sprinkle with a tablespoon of cheese, and then microwave for 30 seconds or so. This doesn't take any longer than microwaving the frozen pizza rolls would, but is guaranteed to be much lower in fat.

This is the story of a child born to Mr. /Mrs. Jones in Ebuta. Mr. Jones was a hunter while the wife was a tailor. They had only two children, a boy named Titus and a daughter called Fate. Both attended Saint Anthony village Ebuta.
Fate began to grow and at the age of fifteen years, the urge for sex began to set in her, Mr. /Mrs. Jones continued to advise the children on the importance of education as they were under privileged to go to school. Fate had the passion for juices and bear meat. That is why it is stocked their cool room. Fate elegance was attributed to the beverages she ate. Her beauty began to manifest unimaginably. This however caught the eye of Klen. Fate fell in love with Klen.
At the final year of Fate in St. Anthony’s College, she got pregnant for Klen, upon observation by her parents, faith eloped. Every attempt to reach out to Fate proved abortive. Fate phones lines kept going, her mother advised her to come back home for solutions. Fate gave deaf hears. Her parents arranged to get rid of that pregnancy even if she could come home but to no avail. All efforts made to trail and find Klen in school met its waterloo. Klen and Fate began their marital life in hidings. Years later, their hideout were discovered, but as at the time Mr. /Mrs. Jones were not ready to stress themselves about the hopeless child. Sooner or later, hardship set in for Klen beyond his control. He therefore drove Fate out of his matrimonial home. Fate after three days of wandering, finally settled in an uncompleted building where one of three children died. She was taken home to the parents by Dada. Three hours later
Idumugbo: the shrine is cleared and we are going.

Four days to the festival
Ogbeuzu: this is our day, the day we look forward for our ancestors within the quarters. It is expected that every male adult should cook. We shall go round their homes and eat the food.
Chief priest: I shall join you as soon as darkness set in.
Eight days later
Obi – this is my day when I cook alone for my people to appease the gods and thank them for keeping us alive.
Umushu: we appreciate you our king and we shall be in your house as soon as darkness set in.
Nine days later
Town crier: this is the day we have been waiting for all sons and daughters of Abba Uno. We expect a mass turn out in their dance costume for the festival.
Youth leader: let the youth be informed that they should at the festival come with their weapons of war as the chief priest demanded.
By 13:7 hrs
Chief priest – prepare in white and red costume to the shrine at the bad bush where people that died of abominable sins are buried. The chief priest pacify the oracle and stays for an hour.
After 1 hour
Ogbuezu: prepares with their dancing drum, gung, to welcome the priest from his visit to the ancestors.
Idumugbo: we are joining ogbeuzu to welcome the chief priest.
Ugboko: we are joining the Ogbeuzu to welcome the chief priest.

Two hours later
Ogbeuzu, Ugboko, Umushu, Idumugbo converge at the market centre where they took off with a dance to the road of the bad bush to welcome the chief priest.

Nwanochie: Blowing his flute intermittently.
Nwachukwu: beats the biggest drum for the festival.
Ekene: beats the small low voice drum.
Ozele: continues to give the crowd songs
Olili: continues rubbing chicken blood on the body of the chief priest.
Ashim: next to the priest in the crowd holding his war sword.
Sunday: holding a grinded chalk sprinkling at any junction they passed and at trees believed to have relationship with ancestral history.
Upon arrival at the palace.
Obi: I thank everybody for the dance accompanying the festival and most importantly, the chief priest. I am presenting this calabash of wine to the chief priest and his group.

Obi: summoned a mass meeting to address the issue of the festival where Ubom, Onogwu, Abulamusi and Ifeanyi were killed with cutlasses and arrows.
Chief priest: it is traditional that there must be spill of blood in appeasing our ancestors in a mood of festival. Therefore, the dead should be forgotten while the culprits should be fined for killings and not inflicting only injury.
Odogwu: supported the chief priest.
Okita: supported Odogwu
Ukwelegwe – supported the speakers.
Obi: since you have spoken in this voice; leaders of different quarters, I have accepted your opinion. It portrays opinion of the people, but how do we avert future occurrence so that it doesn’t cause family wars or reappraisal killings in subsequent festival.
Youth leader: thank you the Obi for your speech. There is nothing we can do about it because it stands for the ancestors, of whatever occurrences that ensued during the festival.

The Vice Chancellor of the University who were known to be above board is all his dealings amongst others were at the apex of academic reality. It however send a caution to other lecturers of the school to eschew academic bias despite all odds. Mr. /Mrs. Victor: man of God, we have come to you to report the rustication of our son in school because of the coincided love affair, between him and his lecturer with China, the lecturer named Prince decided to show him way out by carry-over and reseat in consequence of his action.
Pastor: it’s quite a pitiable situation. Your child is supposed to face his studies and eschew from immoral acts, shall we pray for forgiveness. The pastor prayed for the parents and their son, and they all departed.
Max back to school
Max: junior, look at my situation. Max narrated everything to the student union government.
Junior: I shall accompany you to the head of academics to report the lecturer.
Max: thank you, Junior.
Max prepares his petition and went ahead to report the lecturer in company of the student union president.
Junior: good day sir, we have come to report Mr. Prince to you, here is the petition.
Junior presented the petition to Melody

Melody: I have gone through your petition and have forwarded same to the board, you are therefore requested to appear for defence forth-night.

Melody: you have a case to answer on the 3rd night on a student called Max of Home economics department on alleged rustication which perpetrated in avenge of female relationship struggle according to the petition.
Third day later
Ndidi, Mike, Chidi were seated in Melody’s office expecting the invitees.
Prince: Good morning sirs, get seated.
Junior/Max: Good morning sirs, and took their seat.
Melody: we have called you, Prince and Max to address the issue before us. There is a petition from Max against you Mr. Prince. I shall read the petition now.

Next day
Melody called a board meeting and they appointed independent bodies to mark Max answer sheet with the school marking scheme.
Two weeks later
The independent bodies submitted their remarks and answer sheets to the board and departed.
Melody: board members; you can see the performance of Max. He is a brilliant student. Prince attempted to punish him for dragging a lover with him. We shall write and forward our reports to the deputy vice chancellor.
Melody: good day sir, this is the report of the board on the petition received against a lecturer.
D’V-Chancellor: I shall go through and forward same to the Vice Chancellor.
Two days later
Sir, Good day: this is a report of the findings and recommendation of the academic board, please go through and approve or disapprove their recommendation for actions.
Vice chancellor: read through the reports and recommendation asking Prince to be dismissed. The vice-chancellor therefore gave a nod to the decision of the board and minute back to the deputy vice chancellor who then sent a letter of dismissal to prince via his secretary.
Deputy Vice Chancellor: Max, you have no reseat by the report of the academic board, therefore you will graduate with this set of graduands
